Criteria regarding eligibility for NRRI Membership

General guidelines for eligibility: 

1. Graduates awarded diplomas by NRRI Accredited School are fully eligible.

2. Applicants awarded diplomas by NRRI Accredited schools prior to September 2010 are eligible.

3. Graduates with ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology (QQI Level 5 / FETAC Level 6) including VTCT, CIBTAC and FHT are eligible provided their Diploma Course meets our minimum criteria of 150 tutoring hours and completed 40 case studies.

4. Applicants who hold other Diploma in Reflexology than mentioned above, but who have been in professional practice may be admitted on the basis that their Diploma Course meets our minimum criteria (150 tutoring hours / 40 case studies) and proof (e.g. insurance certificate) that they have been in continuous practice for minimum 3 years.

5. Applicants who hold Diplomas in Reflexology mentioned above, but have no professional practice experience or more than 3 years gap in practice, may be admitted after completing a Refresher Course. If necessary, an individual Assessment can be arranged with one of the NRRI Accredited Schools.

6. Discretionary admissions and refusals do not imply accreditation, approval or disapproval of any school or examining body, and do not constitute any precedent.

7. Full membership is available to registered members who are engaged in professional practice, who have provided evidence of current personal insurance, and who engage in the NRRI Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programme.

8. Full Membership confers accreditation by private health insurance providers (VHI, Irish Life, LAYA, HSF and LEVEL) and a free listing on the NRRI website for referrals.

9. Associate membership is available to registered members who do not wish to engage in full time professional practice but who like to keep in touch and have an interest in the development of reflexology. Personal insurance and the NRRI programme of continuous professional development are optional.

10. Student membership is available only for students studying the NRRI Accredited Diploma Course.

NRRI Full Membership Benefits

Through its functions of regulation, representation and training, based on its comprehensive Code of Ethics and Professional Practice, the NRRI confers on its members a professional status which is recognised at home and abroad. Specific benefits of membership can be summarised as follows:

(1) Member becomes a part of Internationally Recognised and Respected Professional Association which increases not only his/her credibility (certificate of Membership is issued) but also proves the professionalism of such therapist.

(2) Member is entitled to use the designator letters “MNRRI” denoting “Member of the National Register of Reflexologists (Ireland) and to use the title “Registered Reflexologist and NRRI official LOGO on their professional stationery.

(3) Full Membership guarantees Accreditation by the major private health insurance companies, currently by VHI Healthcare, Irish Life Health, LAYA Healthcare, LEVEL Health, Hospital Saturday Fund (HSF) and Westfield Health in N.I. (which means that clients who have a policy with any of these Health Insurers, may be eligible for a refund for some of their Reflexology costs depending on their level of cover – this applies only to clients from the Republic of Ireland)(professional insurance by therapist is required).

(4) Member is included in our online Live Register of Qualified Irish Reflexologists and listed on the NRRI website for referrals (professional insurance by therapist is required)

(5) NRRI Office is open five days a week for members seeking support, help, advice, tips, etc…

(6) Panel of Experts is at your service if you need advice or special opinion.

(7) Professional Insurance is available at discounted premium of €110 per annum.

(8) Member will advance and upgrade his/her skills through participation in our CPD Programme (Continuous Professional Development) while enjoying discounts on all CPD courses facilitated by the NRRI.

(9) Every two years NRRI is organising special event: National Reflexology Symposium with renown international speakers and member enjoy special discounts and earn CPD credits.

(10) Member can set up or join local Networking Group to not only socialise with colleagues but also to improve their reflexology skills and to receive a treatment. 🙂

(11) Member gets a discount on NRRI Publishing House offer (forms, leaflets/charts) .

(12) Member gets special rate for advertising in our eNewsletter.

(13) Members (including Student Members) receive occasionally our “eNewsletter with news, offers of post-graduate training, events, etc.

(14) Member may join private NRRI MEMBERS Facebook Group” to connect with other members, discuss about work, sharing articles and experiences.

There is no prima facie entitlement to membership in the National Register of Reflexologists, and the granting of any grade of membership is at the sole discretion of the Registrar, who reserves the right to decline applications for registration without explanation.

Who can Apply…

Graduates of the NRRI Accredited School, also holders of a Diploma in Reflexology certified by ITEC Level 3  (QQI Level 5 / FETAC Level 6), VTCT, CIBTAC and FHT are eligible for membership provided their Diploma Course meets our minimum criteria of 150 tutoring hours and completed 40 case studies.

Important!  

NOT ELIGIBLE for NRRI Membership are diplomas which the NRRI deems to not meet the required standards as:
(1) Any kind of ONLINE DIPLOMAS e.g. UEDMY.com, CentreofExcellence.com, Alison.com etc
(2) Diplomas Accredited by the IPHM (International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine) 

 

How to Apply…

From 1st February 2025, our Membership Registration process is completely paperless (digital/online)

You will be asked to:

1) fill out the Online Application Form,

2) attach a copy of your Reflexology Diploma,

3) pay an appropriate Registration fee (using your card/PayPal).

Optionally, you can also submit:

4) a copy of your current valid Professional insurance Certificate* and

5) copies of certifiactes of completed post-graduate/holistic courses, if any (for your CPD Programme).

*Important Note: Submitting your current professional insurance certificate is ESSENTIAL to be listed on our website for referrals and private health insurance accreditation. Don’t have insurance yet? No worries, we will guide you to our partner insurance broker upon registration. 😉

There is no prima facie entitlement to membership of the National Register of Reflexologists and the granting of any grade of membership is at the sole discretion of the Registrar who reserve the right to decline applications for registration without explanation.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

Associate Membership: this option is suitable for a person who simply wishes to practise on family and friends in non-professional capacity, or for a member who simply wants to ‘keep in touch’ with the complementary sector.

CPD credits are not required and insurance is discretionary.

Applications for membership will be considered from suitably qualified reflexologists who possess a Practitioner’s Diploma or Certificate of Reflexology from a School of Reflexology accredited by the NRRI, or s School of Reflexology accredited by certain other professional bodies or examination boards (subject to individual assessment).

The National Register of Reflexologists (Ireland) Ltd. is an autonomous institution and applications for membership can be declined or accepted without explanation at the discretion of the Registrar and Advisory Council.

General guidelines for eligibility:

1. Graduates awarded diplomas by NRRI Accredited School are fully eligible.

2. Applicants awarded diplomas by NRRI Accredited Schools prior to September 2010 are eligible.

3. Graduates with ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology (QQI Level 5 / FETAC Level 6), VTCT, CIBTAC and FHT are eligible for membership provided their Diploma Course meets our minimum criteria of 150 tutoring hours and completed 40 case studies.

4. Applicants who hold other Diploma in Reflexology than mentioned above, but who have been in professional practice for a minimum of three years may be admitted on the basis that their Diploma Course meets our miminum criteria (150 tutoring hours and completed 40 case studies) and proof that they have been in continuous practice for a minimum of 3 years (e.g. professional insurance certs.)

5. Applicants who hold Diplomas in Reflexology, but have no professional practice experience may be admitted after completing a Refresher Course with one of the NRRI Accredited Schools.

6. Applicants who hold Diplomas in Reflexology completed by an On-Line training are not eligible.

Members are notified one month in advance when membership renewals are due.

An associate member receives the quarterly journal.

CANCELLATION / TERMINATION POLICY

This ‘Membership Cancellation and Termination Policy’ is to guarantee that NRRI Membership Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct is respected and to assure that decision made by the Registrar is fair and without prejudice.

CANCELLATION OF MEMBERSHIP:

1. Membership can be cancelled by request (verbal or written) from a member without a reason at any time.
2. When membership is cancelled by a member remaining fee will not be refunded.
3. After cancellation, member can re-instate its membership at any time, at discretion of the NRRI Registrar.

TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP:

1. Membership can be terminated at the discretion of Registrar, however fair judgement, common sense and no prejudice must be kept at all times.
2. Membership will be terminated by the Registrar if a member has breached the ‘NRRI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct’.
3. Membership can be terminated by the Registrar if a formal complaint has been filed against the member (subject to a Complaint Committee’s decision).
4. Membership can be terminated by the Registrar if a member has failed to accept the autonomy of the NRRI Registry.
5. Membership can be terminated by the Registrar if a member has acted on disadvantage of NRRI Registry and/or its members.
6. Membership that was terminated will get a refund of remaining months.
7. Membership that was terminated can be re-instated after 12 months at the discretion of NRRI Registrar.

Any proposed addition, deletion, or amendment to this Complaint Policy will be considered by the N.R.R.I. Advisory Council whose final decision will be notified to members.
