Definition of a Vulnerable Persons >>here>>

This statement is in line with the Children First Act 2015 and Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons National Policy 2012

As a reflexologist providing services to children/vulnerable persons as a sole trader, I recognise the importance of ensuring their safety, welfare, and protection at all times. The well-being of children and vulnerable persons is paramount in all aspects of my practice. Therefore, I am committed to implementing the following safeguarding measures:

1. PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT: I will adhere to the highest standards of professional conduct when working with children/vulnerable persons, ensuring that my interactions are appropriate, respectful, and transparent at all times.

2. INFORMED CONSENT: Prior to commencing any reflexology sessions with a children/vulnerable person, I will obtain informed consent from their parent or legal guardian. This consent will include clear information about the nature of the treatment, its potential benefits and risks, and any relevant policies regarding safeguarding.

3. PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY: I will maintain strict confidentiality regarding all information shared by children/vulnerable persons and their families, except in cases where disclosure is required by law or is necessary to safeguard the child's welfare.

4. SAFE ENVIRONMENT: I will ensure that the environment in which reflexology sessions take place is safe, clean, and suitable for children/vulnerable persons. This includes appropriate hygiene practices and the removal of any potential hazards.

5. BOUNDARIES AND PROFESSIONALISM: I will maintain clear and appropriate boundaries with children/vulnerable persons, refraining from engaging in any behaviour that could be misconstrued or deemed inappropriate. I will also refrain from providing reflexology treatments to children without the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

6. TRAINING AND AWARENESS: I will regularly update my knowledge and skills related to children/vulnerable persons safeguarding through relevant training and resources.* This will enable me to recognize signs of abuse or neglect and take appropriate action if any concerns arise.

7. REPORTING PROCEDURES: If I have reasonable grounds for concern regarding the safety or welfare of a children/vulnerable person, I will follow the appropriate reporting procedures as outlined by the relevant authorities in my jurisdiction. This may include reporting to child protection services or other appropriate agencies.

8. REVIEW AND MONITORING: I will regularly review and monitor my children/vulnerable persons safeguarding practices to ensure that they remain effective and up-to-date. This may involve seeking feedback from parents and guardians, consulting with relevant professionals, and making any necessary adjustments to my policies and procedures.

By implementing these safeguarding measures, I am committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for child/vulnerable person receiving reflexology treatments in my care. I recognize the importance of collaboration with parents, guardians, and other professionals to promote the well-being of children/vulnerable persons and respond effectively to any safeguarding concerns that may arise.
